Emergency care and wastewater treatment facilities in Nemishaeve renovated with EU support

On 18 December, a hospital was inaugurated in Nemishaeve, a rural settlement in the Bucha Region of Kyiv Oblast in northern Ukraine. The hospital was severely damaged during the village’s occupation in March 2022, when it was used as the headquarters of the Russian military.

Key improvements included insulation of the building, including roof and windows replacement, installation of a 10-kW roof photovoltaic system with electricity storage, upgrading the heating, ventilation and electricity systems, and installation of new lighting.

The hospital’s first-floor emergency room was also modernised.

The village is now continuing the internal refurbishment of the hospital using its own funding.

On the same day, the EU delegation visited two wastewater pumping stations, repaired with EU support, and a wastewater treatment plant, which is currently under construction.

The renovations were conducted as part of the ‘Housing for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and rehabilitation of liberated cities in Ukraine’ programme, funded by the European Union and managed by Nefco, the Nordic Green Bank, an international financial institution.
