Ukraine just received the full set of EU accession benchmarks last week.
What does this mean?
The benchmarks are a “to-do list” for Ukraine to move forward in the EU accession process: they outline what needs to be done to open and/or close negotiation clusters.
They support Ukrainian institutions in prioritising and planning reforms and legislative processes, aligning laws with EU standards.
The benchmarks require real progress in reforms and practical results.
The implementation depends not only on the adoption of legislation, but also on building strong institutions that can make EU rules work in practice.
The provision of benchmarks for all 6 negotiating clusters reflects the EU’s commitment to supporting Ukraine at every stage of the accession process.
