A Security Centre Has Opened in Shyrokivska Community in Zaporizhzhia Oblast

08/07/2026

A Security Centre has opened in Shyrokivska community in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, bringing together under one roof the services that are first to respond to emergencies: community police officers, the fire and rescue service, medical specialists, and community rescue officers. UNDP and the European Union contributed to fitting out the complex, providing furniture and basic equipment necessary for the daily operations of emergency services.

The Centre will strengthen coordination between services and enable faster responses to the emergencies and security challenges that the region and surrounding communities constantly face. Thanks to its convenient location, emergency services will be able to reach the scene in no more than 15 minutes, meaning a better level of protection and greater confidence in their own safety for thousands of residents of Shyrokivska community.

The establishment of the Centre is the result of the community’s sustained efforts and successful cooperation with national and international partners. Combining various sources of funding and support has made it possible to implement solutions that will serve all 35 settlements in the community, improving people’s access to emergency assistance and essential services.

This approach demonstrates how a combination of local leadership, partnership, and shared investment helps communities put in place solutions with a long-term impact on strengthening security and quality of life.
