MES to receive grant to support project to build modernised vocational education institutions
The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine have signed an agreement to implement the project “Support Programme for Vocational Education in Ukraine”. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The agreement provides for an EU grant of €8.5 million. The funds will be used to support the effective preparation of the project, its implementation and procurement procedures, and communication.
“A modern vocational training system is a necessary step in rebuilding Ukraine. It should be innovative, flexible, inclusive and focused on human development. At the same time, it is impossible to talk about major changes in the system without fundamental, real changes in the vocational schools themselves. That is why the EU and EIB funds will be used to reconstruct and modernise vocational education institutions, which will lay the foundation for further transformation,” said Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
As reported, the grant is in addition to the EIB’s €58 million loan agreement signed in 2021 to finance the construction, reconstruction and modernisation of existing vocational training facilities, as well as to further increase interest in vocational training among young people.
