EU procures almost €2 million worth of IT equipment for Ukraine

The European Union has financed the purchase and delivery of modern IT equipment and software for Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

The equipment was worth about €2 million in total, and was facilitated by EU-funded technical assistance projects, including the EU4SaferFood project, which provides support to align Ukrainian legislation, control and awareness with the EU Acquis in food safety, animal health and welfare, and phytosanitary measures. The project lasts from March 2024 until November 2025, with a total budget of almost €2 million.

With this new hardware and software, the Ministry will be able to significantly extend and modernise its data centre and ensure the sustainable functioning of the State Agrarian Register. The platform was established by the Ministry with the support of the EU for the registration of farms in Ukraine and the transparent mobilisation and distribution of different types of financial and technical support for the agrarian sector.

Also, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) will be able to launch and maintain a new training centre for specialists in the fields of veterinary medicine, food safety, sanitary and phytosanitary measures. The training centre is needed for the continuous professional development of Ministry and SSUFSCP specialists with the support of the EU4SaferFood project. The centre will be located at the State Scientific and Research Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics, Veterinary and Sanitary Examination in Kyiv.
