EU donates 1,000 items of body armour to Ukrainian police
01/06/2022
The National Police of Ukraine (NPU) has received 1,000 pieces of body armour under the EU-funded PRAVO Police Programme.
This equipment will protect police officers as they perform new functions under martial law, such as supporting the evacuation of civilians from hotspots, delivering humanitarian aid to places subject to shelling, protecting critical facilities, gathering evidence and maintaining order in all Ukrainian government-controlled territories.
This is the first donation of personal protective equipment since PRAVO Police was repurposed to provide emergency support to Ukraine’s rule of law institutions. More items from the EU will be arriving to the NPU and others in the coming weeks. The PRAVO Police Programme is implemented by UNOPS in close cooperation with the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine.
