06/12/2024
On 3 December, the official opening of the renovated and newly equipped training workshops at Drohobych Vocational School #19 took place as part of the ‘EU4Skills: Modernisation of Vocational Education and Training Infrastructure in Ukraine’ programme.
The institution underwent major renovations, covering a total area of 420.7 m². The project included the modernisation of classrooms, replacement of windows and doors, installation of a ramp, upgrading of the heating system and other internal engineering networks, and landscaping of the territory.
The programme also provided state-of-the-art professional equipment worth over €600,000. This will enhance training for professions such as information processing and software operator, hairdresser, manicurist, and makeup artist.
“The implementation of new technologies, modernisation of premises, and procurement of equipment in vocational education institutions in Ukraine are significant steps toward ensuring high-quality teaching and practical training of students. This will contribute to training of skilled professionals to meet labour market demands at the regional and national levels and support the country’s recovery,” said Henrik Huitfeldt, Head of the Public Finance, Business Support and Social Policies Section at the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
The EU-funded ‘EU4Skills: Modernisation of Vocational Education and Training Infrastructure in Ukraine’ project is part of the ‘EU4Skills: Better Skills for Modern Ukraine’ programme and aims to update and modernise the equipment and infrastructure of VET schools in Ukraine. On behalf of the European Union and the German Development Bank KfW, the project is implemented by the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund.
