FAO and EU launch grant programme for farmers in the west of Ukraine

The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with support of the European Union, is launching an investment grant programme for small and micro agricultural producers in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia oblasts and Bukovyna, Anna Burka, independent expert, informed on her Facebook page.

In particular, producers of berries, vegetables and aquaculture products from Lviv oblast, producers of “Hutsulska Sheep Bryndzya”, “Hutsulska Cow Bryndza”, “Zakarpattia’s Honey” and small winemakers from Zakarpattia oblast, producers of the geographical indications “Hutsulska Sheep Bryndzya” and “Hutsulska Cow Bryndza”from Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi oblasts, can participate in the programme.

“The grant programme is part of an EU-funded project aimed at supporting the operation and strengthening of value chains in agriculture, fisheries and forestry and at supporting their adaptation to new conditions. This is needed to satisfy the food demand of the local and displaced population in the west and resolve the issue of absence of food security in other parts of the country in the nearest and short-term period,” notes the expert.

The call for applications for which will start in mid-January. In addition, FAO representatives will help participants prepare business plans and provide practical advice on how to complete applications through the State Agricultural Registry.
