Ukraine to develop AI and digital technologies with EUR 6 million in EU funding
Ukrainian companies will be able to access the calls from the Digital Europe Programme. The overall budget of the programme is EUR 7.5 billion.
Ukraine received access to EUR 6 million in EU funding for digital projects as a part the Digital Europe Programme, informed Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov in his Telegram channel.
This will provide an opportunity to our country to digitalize the visa-free regime with the European Union and also develop some key capacity areas, the minister stated. These areas include the following:
- supercomputing;
- artificial intelligence;
- data and cloud services;
- digital skills;
- a wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society.
Starting from autumn 2022 until 2027, Ukrainian companies will be able to submit applications for funding under the Digital Europe programme. More details are available here.
“I would like to thank our European partners for this important step that will help Ukraine accelerate digital economy development,” stressed Fedorov.
Facts about the Digital Europe Programme
The Digital Europe Program provides funding for projects in 5 key capacity areas:
- supercomputing;
- artificial intelligence;
- cybersecurity;
- advanced digital skills;
- ensuring a wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society.
The planned overall budget of the programme is €7.5 billion. The funding will be directed at accelerating the economic recovery and shaping the digital transformation of Europe’s society and economy, bringing benefits to everyone, but in particular to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Програма “Цифрова Європа” не розв’язуватиме вищезгадані проблеми самостійно, а лише доповнить фінансування, доступне в рамках інших програм ЄС, таких як Horizon Europe, Connecting Europe Facility, Recovery and Resilience Facility, Structural funds.
The Digital Europe Programme will not address these challenges in isolation, but rather complement the funding available through other EU programmes, such as the Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation and the Connecting Europe Facility for digital infrastructure, the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the Structural funds. It is a part of the next long-term EU budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027.
