With EU and Polish support: a modern Psychosocial Support Centre has opened in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi

A solemn opening ceremony for the Psychosocial Support Centre took place in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. The municipal facility is now located at a new address: 3-A Mykhailivska Street.

The Centre was established under the project “Comprehensive Support for Children, Families and Communities Affected by War,” funded by the European Union and implemented by the Representation of the Foundation for International Solidarity in Ukraine under the PRO_MentalHealth Psychosocial Programme.

The event was attended by distinguished guests:

• Artur Grossman — Attaché for Development Cooperation at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine;
• Paweł Kost — Head of the Representation of the Foundation for International Solidarity in Ukraine;
• Oleksandr Skalozub — Secretary of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City Council.

Scaling up the network and results in Odesa Oblast

The establishment of the Centre is part of a systematic effort to develop accessible psychosocial support at community level. The model, piloted in 2023 in Rivne Oblast, has now been scaled up to 18 Centres across five oblasts of Ukraine (Rivne, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Poltava).

Four such municipal facilities operate in Odesa Oblast — in Odesa, Berezivka, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and the village of Safiany in Izmail district. As of the end of July 2026, specialists at the oblast Centres have already provided more than 10,000 services to people who have experienced the trauma of war.

The director of the facility, Hanna Onoprienko, led guests on a tour and presented the Centre’s key achievements. Participants viewed an exhibition of motanka dolls, took part in creating a shared canvas, and spoke with war veterans and members of their families.
