With EU Support, Mobile Clinics in Zaporizhzhia Oblast Helped 7,120 Residents

This was reported by the International Charitable Foundation (ICF) Alliance for Public Health, which marked Medical Workers’ Day by summarising the results of the Mobile Clinics project, funded by the Government of Germany and the European Union (EU).

During this time, medical staff visited 107 settlements. During outreach visits, patients receive a consultation with a doctor, undergo examinations, have tests taken, and receive prescriptions and necessary medicines. The mobile clinics operate in communities where access to medical services is hampered by the war, the remoteness of hospitals, and problems with transport links.

Among the patients, 65% are aged 60 and over, 32% are aged 18 to 59, and 3% are under 18. Women account for 74% of those receiving assistance, and men for 26%.

According to her, thanks to the support of the EMPOWER project, funded by the Government of Germany together with the EU and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Ukraine, the team is able to work where medical services are needed most.

Before the project was launched, residents of remote communities in Zaporizhzhia Oblast often had no way of reaching a doctor in time due to distance, lack of transport, and ongoing hostilities. The mobile clinics continue to operate in the region, bringing medical care closer to those who need it most.
