At the Higher Vocational Mining and Construction College in Horishni Plavni, a modern training and practice centre for the profession “Driver of motor vehicles. Mobile crane operator” has been opened. The project was implemented with the support of the European Union under the Ukraine Facility programme.

The centre was created as part of the public investment project “Modernisation of workshops and laboratories of vocational and professional pre-tertiary education institutions, ensuring energy efficiency, safety, and inclusiveness of the educational space”.

The total cost of the project exceeds UAH 11.5 million, of which over UAH 8 million comes from a state subvention and more than UAH 3.5 million from co-financing.

The Higher Vocational Mining and Construction College is one of the leading vocational education institutions in the region, training specialists for the mining, construction, transport, and other sectors. The new centre has become the fourth modern training and practice space at the institution, alongside centres for training electric gas welders, maintenance fitters, and vehicle repair mechanics.

Thanks to the project, the institution has received modern trucks and a passenger car, a passenger car simulator, an interactive panel, laptops, and upgraded classrooms. This will enable students to acquire practical skills on modern equipment that closely reflects real industrial conditions.

Modern vocational education must meet labour market needs. The opening of such a training and practice centre is an investment in preparing qualified specialists that the country’s economy urgently needs today. It is important that young people in Poltava region have the opportunity to study using modern equipment and gain practical skills that will underpin a successful professional future,” said Myroslav Kostenko, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Poltava Regional Military Administration.

Developing a modern material and technical base for vocational education institutions is one of the key areas for training competitive personnel for Ukraine’s reconstruction and development.

It should be recalled that in Hadiach, a training and practice centre (TPC) “Modern technologies for vehicle maintenance and repair” has been established. The project was implemented with the support of the European Union under the Ukraine Facility programme. The EU invested UAH 6.7 million in this facility, which made it possible to transform old workshops into a modern inclusive educational hub.

The TPC will train specialists in the professions “Mechanic for the repair of wheeled vehicles” and “Mechanic for the repair of agricultural machinery”. Students now have access to modern diagnostic systems and cutting-edge tools.
