An international infrastructure project, DRIVEConnect, is being implemented in Zakarpattia with EU support

The Infrastructure Recovery and Development Service in Zakarpattia Oblast announced the implementation of the international DRIVEConnect project under the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine 2021–2027 programme.

The project, titled Cross-border Mobility Development: Improving the Accessibility of Road Infrastructure in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia oblasts and the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, is aimed at improving transport links along the Ukrainian-Polish border and developing road infrastructure.

As part of the project, a major overhaul is planned in Zakarpattia for a section of the H-13 state road Lviv–Sambir–Uzhhorod, from km 169+500 to km 172+400.

The Infrastructure Recovery Service notes that the project has already been state-registered with the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and has received an international technical assistance registration card No. 6415.

According to the grant agreement, the project will run from 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2028.

The total budget of DRIVEConnect exceeds EUR 20.4 million, of which more than EUR 14.6 million is allocated to Ukraine. In particular, the European Union grant for the Ukrainian side amounts to EUR 11.37 million.

Project partners:

  • Department of Road Management of the Lviv Regional State Administration;
  • Podkarpackie Regional Road Authority in Rzeszów;
  • Infrastructure Recovery and Development Service in Zakarpattia Oblast;
  • State Organisation “Roads of Prykarpattia.”

The project documentation is currently being revised. Once a positive expert assessment is received, the procurement process is expected to be announced and a contractor selected to carry out the works.
