EU provides one million textbooks to Ukrainian pupils for the new school year
11/09/2024
On 9 September, a batch of 1 million computer and arts textbooks printed in the EU for Ukrainian schoolchildren was delivered to the Ukrainian authorities, bringing to 1.5 million the total number of textbooks for Ukraine since the start of the war.
Providing these textbooks, the European Commission is seeking to ensure pupils in Ukraine can continue their education, despite the ongoing and indiscriminate Russian drone and missile attacks.
This delivery of the schoolbooks is the result of cooperation between a number of EU Member States. The files for print were finalised in the Netherlands, paper for the books was delivered from Germany to Poland, where the final product was printed and shipped across the border to Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities.
The initiative is funded under the Erasmus+ programme.
