Ukraine has made great strides on its path towards the EU – President of the European Commission
“We know this is not an easy road”.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated that Ukraine has made great strides on its path towards EU membership. However, a lot remains to be done for gaining full membership, said the President of the European Commission in her State of the Union address at the European Parliament.
“We know this is not an easy road. Accession to the EU is merit-based – and the Commission will always defend this principle. But there is already a lot of progress. We have seen the great strides Ukraine has already made since we granted them candidate status,” said Ursula von der Leyen.
When Europe is bold, it gets things done.
