Grant of up to €30,000 for media organisations

Media organisations that already have tested plans for launching new products, services, or monetisation models can apply for a grant of up to €30,000 under the Business Innovation Synergizer programme.

In addition to funding, selected organisations will receive:

  • individual mentoring support;
  • regular online or offline consultations;
  • the opportunity to exchange experience with other media outlets.

The programme is designed to help media organisations create stronger products, services, and digital solutions that will contribute to their long-term sustainability. Details are available here: https://bit.ly/4vX6amp

Grant funds can be directed towards a wide range of areas related to business development and innovation. In particular, the programme supports:

  • the launch of new monetisation models (subscriptions, membership programmes, premium content, events);
  • the improvement of websites, mobile applications, and newsletters;
  • the introduction of digital tools for content production and audience analytics;
  • the development of new content formats;
  • marketing and audience engagement;
  • the purchase of equipment, software, licences, or digital infrastructure required for project implementation.

Applications may be submitted by legally registered media organisations that have an annual revenue of more than €80,000; employ at least five full-time staff members; and were founded before 1 January 2025.

The programme is part of Media Innovation Europe 3.0, a two-year initiative supporting local, investigative and community-focused media as they adapt to digital transformation, diversify revenue, improve audience engagement and develop sustainable business models.

Media Innovation Europe 3.0 is funded by the European Union and implemented by a consortium led by the International Press Institute, together with Thomson Media, The Fix Foundation and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network.
