Grants for local cross-border investigative journalist teams
The EU-supported Local Cross-Border Investigative Journalism Programme has launched a call with several deadlines to support investigative teams of professional journalists and/or news outlets.
The grant programme will be open for teams of local investigative journalists and/or local media outlets from at least two different European countries who have good ideas for a local cross-border investigation. For example: journalists and/or news outlets from different comparable cities investigate how their cities cope with, for example, housing, waste, tourism, mobility, etc.
This grant programme is open to local journalists/media outlets domiciled in at least two different countries. When relevant for the story, team members from outside Europe can be accepted, too.
The total available amount per call to be distributed among all supported investigations will be around €209,000. In practice, grants could vary from e.g. €2,000 for smaller investigations to €10,000 or even more for very large investigations that involve newsrooms in many countries.
European Cross-Border Grants are carried out by Journalismfund.eu, with funding from the European Union, Limelight Foundation, and Vereniging Veronica.
The grant can cover working time and expenses such as logistics, travel, insurance, access to legal support, translations, access to technology and data sets, etc.
The deadline for applications is 26 September. The next deadline will be 7 November.
