IOM and Ukraine to reconstruct priority border-crossing points within EU-funded project
27/03/2024
On 22 March, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine signed a Letter of Intent to enhance cooperation as part of the ‘EU Support to Strengthening Integrated Border Management in Ukraine (EU4IBM)’ project.
In particular, the IOM and the Agency will work together to streamline the export of essential commodities and agricultural goods from Ukraine to the EU.
This includes the planned reconstruction of the Reni border crossing point in Odesa region as well as other priority border-crossing points.
The timeline for these efforts is March 2024 – December 2025, with €10 million allocated by the European Union to support the initiative.
“By enhancing border infrastructure and facilitating joint control measures, the initiative aims to optimise trade flows and strengthen ties between Ukraine, Moldova, and the European Union,” the EU Delegation to Ukraine said in a Facebook post.
