The European Union, under special business support programmes for Ukraine, compensates companies for 10–15% of the cost of investments in technologies required to bring their operations into compliance with EU legislation and standards.
This was stated by Gabriel Blanc, head of the Ukraine reconstruction task force at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, during an online address at the event “Regional Business Dialogues on European Integration: the Transport Sector,” as reported by Ukrinform.
“If a company has invested or is investing in technologies that ensure alignment with EU legislation, we offer a cashback of 10–15% of the value of such an investment,” Blanc said.
According to him, this mechanism is designed to incentivise Ukrainian businesses to invest in bringing their operations into compliance with European standards.
The official noted that such programmes are implemented through Ukrainian banks, which benefit from EU guarantees. This makes it possible to reduce risks for financial institutions and expand Ukrainian companies’ access to lending.
“We are scaling up such programmes, as this is money that flows through Ukrainian banks to Ukrainian companies so that these companies can invest in compliance with European standards,” the European Commission representative stated.
According to him, the total portfolio of such programmes exceeds €6 billion.
Blanc emphasised that the support covers both large Ukrainian companies and small businesses, including enterprises in frontline regions and companies that have been forced to relocate.
