Ukrainians have already exchanged millions of old light bulbs for energy-saving ones

Ukrainians have exchanged 5 million light bulbs over two weeks.

About one million Ukrainians have benefited from the free exchange of old incandescent bulbs for new energy-saving LED ones. Since the program’s start on January 30, Ukrainians have exchanged about 5 million lamps, the Ministry of Economy’s website reports.

Besides, 2.2 million energy-saving light bulbs have been ordered through the Diia app.

“The light bulb exchange program is designed to reduce the load on Ukraine’s energy system, which the enemy is constantly trying to destroy. Today we are recording interim results – Ukrainians have exchanged almost 5 million light bulbs. This is a good result, as Ukrainians have responded to the Government’s call to reduce electricity consumption. We are grateful to our partners for supporting Ukraine’s energy front, in particular, the European Union, which financed the purchase of 35 million LED lamps,” said Oleksiy Sobolev, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization, during a press briefing.

As the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has reported before, incandescent lamps can be exchanged for energy-saving LED lamps in all cities and villages of Ukraine.
