EU-supported innovation centre in Sarny trains the road builders of the future
An admissions campaign for the 2026–2027 academic year is currently underway at Vocational School No. 22 in Sarny.
The institution’s key advantage during this year’s admissions campaign is its training of specialists at the “Innovation Transport Centre for Road Construction” — an educational and practical facility established with the financial and technical support of the European Union.
Against the backdrop of a labour shortage in the construction and logistics sectors of Rivne Oblast, this centre has become the region’s first example of modernising vocational education to meet the real demands of the labour market. Thanks to the investments attracted, the training of Ukrainian students in the fields of Construction and Civil Engineering and Road Transport has fully transitioned to European standards.
Modern equipment and digital simulators from European partners
The project was implemented in a strategic partnership with the German development bank KfW, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Department of Education and Science of the Rivne Regional State Administration, and the Sarny City Council.
As part of the initiative, European donors provided the institution with unique material and technical resources:
- 9 units of specialised equipment — modern graders, excavators, and loaders of European standard;
- 4 sets of high-tech spare parts — for detailed study of internal engineering and machine maintenance;
- 3 training units and digital simulators — virtual systems that allow students to safely practise operating heavy machinery before going out to real sites.
Employment prospects and infrastructure reconstruction
High-quality road infrastructure is critically important today for ensuring logistics, humanitarian corridors, and Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. Practical skills in operating innovative machinery enable graduates of Vocational School No. 22 in Sarny to earn qualifications that fully meet the requirements of leading construction companies.
As of May 2026, students studying at the Centre have broader employment opportunities immediately after graduation, as they contribute to the reconstruction of the country’s infrastructure.
