Energy Support Fund to provide mobile gas turbines to boost Ukraine electricity supply
01/08/2024
The Ukraine Energy Support Fund (UESF) will finance the procurement and delivery of mobile gas turbines providing up to 18MW of additional power to reinforce Ukraine’s electricity supply ahead of the coming winter.
The contract is part of a broader effort to enhance the resilience and reliability of Ukraine’s generation capacity infrastructure in the face of challenges during the colder months and ongoing Russian attacks.
The units will be deployed in key areas across the country, offering flexible and rapid response capabilities to support the grid, ensuring that households and businesses have reliable access to electricity throughout the winter.
The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established to provide financial assistance to repair Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks. It is managed by the Energy Community Secretariat, co-chaired by the European Commission, with contributions from governments, international organisations, and corporate donors.
To date the Fund has reached €503 million in pledges from the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the United States, Denmark, Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, Spain, Belgium and Iceland, among others.
