EU to host Global Gateway Forum for sustainable investments in connectivity, health, education and research
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will host and open the Global Gateway Forum in Brussels on 25 and 26 October, bringing together over 40 high-level government representatives from EU and partner countries, as well as representatives from financial institutions, including the EIB and EBRD, the private sector, civil society and international organisations.
Under the theme, ‘Stronger Together through Sustainable Investment’, the Global Gateway Forum will showcase progress in the implementation of the Global Gateway strategy, the EU’s offer for quality, transparent investments in connectivity, health, education and research systems across the world.
In the Eastern Partnership region, the Global Gateway is being implemented through the Economic and Investment Plan.
On 25 October, President von der Leyen will host a dinner for the Heads of State and Government and participate in the opening plenary session of the Forum, which will be followed, during the two days, by a series of leaders discussions focused on the green energy transition and green hydrogen, education and research, critical raw materials and transport corridors.
On 26 October, further leaders discussions will take place on health products manufacturing and digital infrastructure. Finally, there will be a closing plenary session with EU High Representative Josep Borrell.
Several announcements to bring forward the implementation of the first 89 flagship projects launched under Global Gateway will take place during the two-day event.
The opening and closing ceremonies will be live streamed.
