EU4USociety: Civil Society Partnership Project

Project Description
The project 'EU4USociety' is aimed at strengthening engagement, sustainability, capacity, relevance and influence of Ukrainian civil society in addressing actual domestic, regional and global challenges. The project will announce grant calls for proposals for civil society organizations on six thematic priorities:
- 'Humanity and Mutual Assistance': A Humanitarian Initiative to Counteract the COVID-19 Pandemic (supported by the European Union since April 2020);
- Strengthening democratic institutions and practices;
- Stability and sustainability of civil society (in particular, co-financing crowdfunding initiatives);
- Digital transformation based on human rights;
- Addressing climate change;
- Civic support for integrated border management and cross-border cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.
Specific Objective
To strengthen engagement, sustainability, capacity, relevance and influence of Ukrainian civil society in addressing actual domestic, regional and global challenges.
Expected Results
1) To strengthen the role and visibility of civil society actors in addressing the social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic (having at least 25,000 people benefited from grants under the HMA programme);
2) To strengthen the CSOs’ role, voice, and capacity to address the challenges of building sustainable democratic institutions and practices, rights-based digital transformation and climate responsible policies (achieving policy and behavioural changes on the national and local levels, including successful CSO advocacy to approximate Ukrainian legislation to GDPR and Association Agreement’s Annex XVII-3 provisions, and to align Ukrainian environmental and economic policy with the EU’s Green Deal);
3) To strengthen resilience and sustainability of civil society by expanding the CSOs’ resources and support base, cross-sectoral partnerships, outreach, engagement and connections with citizens and communities they seek to serve (with at least 50% of grantees who continue diversifying their resource base by crowdfunding campaigns);
4) To strengthen engagement of Ukrainian civil society in international networking, partnerships and collaborative advocacy (with participating think tanks and local CSOs continuing to be engaged in international collaborations with peers from Moldova, Georgia, Brussels and EU’s Central and Eastern European member states).
