Project Description
The project EU Unity4Community aims to strengthen the role of CSOs as key players in implementing development projects at the local level, develop a new culture of partnership and dialogue between the government and the civil sector, enhance the impact of CSOs on local and national policies, and support the role of CSOs on the Ukraine way to EU accession. Additionally, it focuses on creating opportunities and entry points for CSOs to influence the development and implementation of public policies.CSOs and community actors empowered on their path to reforms, EU-accession and recovery.
Specific Objective
The overall objective of the EU Unity4Community project is to empower CSOs and community actors on their path to reforms, EU accession and recovery. This objective will be achieved by engaging in two directions of activities:
- strengthening capacities of CSOs working in the spheres of reforms, EU accession, and recovery to enhance their ability to collaborate and build partnerships with stakeholders engaged in recovery processes via financial support, training, and research of their needs;
- strengthening capacities of community actors and communities in the spheres of reforms, EU-accession, recovery and community development via training.
Expected Results
1. Enhanced capacities of local actors in local development and recovery through a comprehensive training program for Local Recovery and Development Consultants.
Representatives of community-based organisations, initiative groups and local authorities improved their skills and competences to contribute to the local socio-economic development
- developed comprehensive 3-module training program;
- conducted 12 Basic trainings, 6 Advanced trainings and 2 ToTs for 25-30 participants each;
- 300 people underwent Basic training, 150 people underwent Advanced training and 50 people participated in ToT;
- 150 representatives of local CSOs are trained to become Recovery and Development Consultant;
- at least 25 representatives of CSOs are able to deliver Basic and Advanced trainings.
Grass-root organisations are empowered to exercise local democracy at the local level
- 15 UNITY Points are established in communities

2. Strengthened CSOs role in driving reforms and recovery and EU accession through grant support in total amount of €3.75 million.
CSOs working in the field of reforms, EU-accession and recovery are capacitated and empowered
- distributed 70 project-based grants for CSOs working in the field of reforms, EU-accession and recovery for research, development and legislative initiatives, watchdog, educational and awareness-raising activities. Project-based grants will cover the need in research and development, legislative initiatives, watchdog, educational and awareness-raising activities, while core support grants will provide necessary administrative and project support to CSOs critical for the continuation of activities;
- distributed 3 Core Support Grants to administrative and project support to CSOs critical for the continuation of activities in three spheres: reforms, EU accession and recovery
- distributed 25 Local Actors grants to grass-root community-based CSOs to establish UNITY Points in communities – community spaces that enable local actors and citizens to learn about best practices and examples of sustainable recovery and development, interact with stakeholders, assess community needs, develop local projects, policies, strategies, and action plans, and implement them in their communities while informing and involving a wide range of citizens and organizations.
