Improvement of legislation, control and awareness in food safety, animal health and welfare in Ukraine (EU4SaferFood)

Project Description
This project helps Ukraine improve food safety and veterinary/animal welfare control system.
Specific Objective
To enhance the functionality of food safety, animal health and welfare services, and control system by:
- gradual alignment with EU and other international standards;
- ensuring health guarantees on animals in different areas of the country;
- implementing a comprehensive state prophylactic programme against some infectious diseases and zoonoses.
Expected Results
- To finalise harmonisation of Ukrainian legislation with the EU legislation in the sphere of food safety, animal health and welfare
- To improve standards in all areas of food safety and animal health and welfare services
- To increase public and stakeholders’ awareness on new responsibilities of state organisations related to food safety and animal health and welfare; and benefits of consuming livestock products grown/produced by enterprises that fulfil animal health and welfare requirements
- To establish a continuous training system for officials of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, working in the sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary sectors
