Revitalising frontline communities through humanitarian de-mining and livelihood support

Project Description
Funded under the European Commission’s Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP), project Revitalising Frontline Communities through Humanitarian De-Mining and Livelihood Support is two-fold: improves the physical safety of civilians in target communities through humanitarian demining and (mine) risk education as well as enhances the resilience of target communities by increasing the level of private income and improving community infrastructure.
Specific Objective
Overall Objective
Civilians in communities within the buffer zone of government-controlled areas that have been impacted most severely as a result of conflict experience an improvement in their overall resilience and physical safety.


1. To improve the resilience of target communities by increasing the level of private income and improving community infrastructure;
2. To improve the physical safety of civilians in target communities.
Expected Results
1. Non-technical survey and marking in 10 high priority settlements in government-controlled areas of Luhansk region.
2. 30 identified hazardous areas physically marked.
3. 500,000 m2 contaminated land released (140,000 m2 MMC – manual mine clearance, 360,000m2 BAC – battle area clearance).
4. 100 mine risk education sessions provided to 2,000 beneficiaries in high priority settlements.
5. 150 households benefiting from livelihoods restoration support.
6. 10 community-based initiatives supported.
7. 600 households benefiting from implemented community-based initiatives.
8. 100 viable means of self-employment, or jobs, created.
