The EU has supported Docudays UA since 2018

09/06/2025

🇪🇺🎬 Last week, Kyiv’s historic Zhovten Cinema hosted the opening of the 22nd Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

🎥 Where cinema meets civic courage, the festival once again united filmmakers, activists and audiences committed to human rights.

🫶 The EU has supported Docudays UA since 2018, providing over €1.2 million to:

🚍 bring the Travelling Docudays UA programme to every corner of the country;

🎦 strengthen and expand the nationwide DOCU/CLUB network of human rights film clubs;

🗄️ launch the Ukraine War Archive, a secure digital repository which now holds over 20 million pieces of evidence preserving the truth about Russia’s war against Ukraine.

🎙️ Addressing the audience, Rémi Duflot, the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, underlined why the EU stands with Ukraine’s documentary community: “The EU and Ukraine are united by common values, and by supporting cultural initiatives such as Docudays UA, we honour those values and recognise the unique cultural heritage and resilience of the Ukrainian people.”

🌟 Catch one of the many screenings in Kyiv – the festival runs until the 13th of June!
