The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has sent a letter of thanks to Rozalia Bodnarchuk from Kalush. This was in response to the embroidered towel and drawings sent by Rozalia and her children from Kalush, as reported by Andriy Naida, the head of the community.
“I am sincerely happy to hear the news from our famous Kalush resident Rozalia Semenivna Bodnarchuk, which is worthy of the attention of Kalush residents and all Ukrainians. She received a letter by post from Brussels, the seat of the European Union, from the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. Its touching content could not leave anyone indifferent. This is in response to the gift Rozalia Semenivna sent earlier (an embroidered towel) and letters and drawings from Kalush children,” Naida wrote.
“Dear pupils, dear Ms Bodnarchuk, dear staff of Kalush Lyceum No. 10”, wrote Ursula von der Leyen.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your moving letters and drawings from Ukraine, as well as for the beautiful rushnyk you sent me.
Your kindness and creativity have touched my heart and you have truly brightened my day.
I found your drawings so lovely and full of imagination, and your letters, so thoughtful.
I want you to know that all of us in Brussels and in the European Union are thinking of you every day.
These are dark days for your country and your bravery is admirable. You are an inspiration to us all.
The whole European Union stands with you during these very difficult times. And then, when peace comes back to Ukraine, we will help you rebuild your beautiful country.
My message to you right now is to stay strong. And to keep learning, playing, and dreaming of a happy future.
I also dream, and I dream of a peaceful, thriving Ukraine that will one day be part of the European Union family. We will work very hard with all the people of Ukraine to turn this dream into reality.
Thank you again for sharing your stories and art with me. I will treasure your letters and drawings always.”
This is how the President of the European Commission reacted to the gifts from the people of Kalush.
It is worth mentioning that many world politicians already have rushnyks from Rozalia Bodnarchuk – Joe Biden, Boris Johnson, Roberta Metsola, and Andrzej Duda.
It is almost ready to be sent to Justin Trudeau.President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also received a Victory Rushnyk.
