ReHERIT 2:0. Common Responsibility for Shared Heritage
Project Description
The unexplored pages of the past keep coming back to us, prompting discussions about the dangers of the hierarchization of experiences, the construction of a monopoly on history, and marginalization. The experiences of the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine resonate deeply with the war experiences of the XX century. In the new realities, how does the present, in its approach to the past, allow us to rethink experience from a historical perspective? How can we respond to the current threats and solidarize society around a shared heritage? The project will actualize these questions, having the main aim of fostering the understanding of local multicultural heritage as a common asset that stimulates local cultural, and socio-economic development. Within the project, the Center for Urban History and the Center for Regional Development will work on implementing the next objectives: raising awareness about the entangled and inclusive history of Ukraine; expanding the circle of professionals who can talk about the multicultural heritage sensitively; strengthening stakeholders' capacity in managing and actualizing heritage. The project consists of intertwined components, which are built upon the approach of active participation practices and foster reflection and respect for the diversity and multiplicity of heritage and history in Ukraine.
