20/05/2025

On 15-16 May, the EU Delegation to Ukraine organised its 10th training for regional journalists in Zhytomyr, with the participation of Rémi Duflot, Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine and Kristina Mikulova, Head of the Regional Hub for Eastern Europe at the European Investment Bank (EIB), as well as leading experts on EU-related topics.

During these two days, more than 20 journalists from different regions of Ukraine had the opportunity to learn more about the European Union, including:

  • Ukraine’s path towards EU membership, current context and accession process;
  • comprehensive support provided by the European Union to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion;
  • EU history and its organisational structure;
  • disinformation about Ukraine’s EU accession;
  • reliable sources of information and features for creating media materials on EU-related topics.

The participants also visited EU recovery efforts in action. First, they attended the official opening ceremony of the newly modernised surgery unit at Hospital No.2, under the Zhytomyr City Council. This upgrade was made possible with financial support from the European Union and the European Investment Bank (EIB), and was implemented by UNDP.

Additionally, participants took part in the Forum of Euroclubs and visited an ongoing IDP housing project, which includes 116 flats designed to accommodate over 400 people. Also, they attended the Forum of Euroclubs of the Zhytomyr Region, which gathered over 240 EU-enthusiast schoolchildren.
