Hundreds of Ukrainian entrepreneurs receive EU microgrants to help resume business
23/08/2024
On 20 August, Ukrainian entrepreneurs, business leaders and international partners gathered to review the results of the EU4Business Microgrant Programme, funded by the EU and the German government. The programme aimed to help businesses resume operations in the most affected and de-occupied areas, while also strengthening the resilience of microbusinesses in various regions of Ukraine amidst the ongoing war.
The event included a panel discussion with entrepreneurs who received financial support under the programme. Through three rounds of grant competitions held between August 2023 and April 2024, 779 entrepreneurs from all over Ukraine (excluding the temporarily occupied territories) received support totalling approximately UAH 120 million.
The majority of grants went to individual entrepreneurs, with more than half awarded to women. The regions of Sumy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv led in the number of grants distributed.
The programme also contributed to the government’s eRobota initiative and was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
