On 12 September Kyiv hosted the second Ukraine-EU Committee meeting on the Horizon Europe and Euratom Association Agreement for the first time since it was signed.
This hybrid event, held at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, focused on:
🔹 The state of Ukraine’s research system, crucial reforms, and the impact of Russian aggression.
🔹 Ukraine’s participation in Horizon Europe and Euratom programs and the role of research in reconstruction.
🔹 EU support to Ukraine and updates on key policy programmes.
Participants included Deputy Minister Denys Kurbatov, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Anatoliy Zagorodny and Head of Section for Public Finance, Business Support and Social Policies at the EU Delegation to Ukraine Henrik Huitfeldt. The meeting was co-chaired by Signe Ratso, Deputy Director-General for Research and Innovation at the European Commission.
The event provided an important platform to discuss the future of Ukraine’s science and innovation sector and further steps for its integration into the European Research Area.
