The European Union has financed the purchase and delivery of modern IT equipment and software for the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection. The total cost of equipment was about €2 million, and was facilitated by EU-funded technical assistance projects, including the Project entitled “Continued support to align Ukrainian legislation, control and awareness with the EU Acquis in food safety, animal health and welfare, and phytosanitary” (EU4SaferFood).
“The European Union is continuing its comprehensive support to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and the SSUFSCP, including the procurement of this equipment, in order to help them to ensure that they can fulfil their public functions more efficiently. This equipment includes high-power hardware to host the Ministry’s State Agrarian Register and for the SSUFSCP’s new training centre for state officials. We have also updated the pool of office equipment such as computers, laptops, software, networking equipment, and multifunctional devices, and also ensured the secure data back-up and data recovery in the event of emergencies”, said Mr Christian Ben Hell, Agricultural Attaché, Sector Manager for Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and Food Safety at the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
With this new hardware and software:
- The Ministry will be able to significantly extend and modernise its data centre and ensure the sustainable functioning of the State Agrarian Register – a platform established by the Ministry with the support of the EU for the registration of farms in Ukraine and the transparent mobilisation and distribution of different types of financial and technical support for the agrarian sector;
- The SSUFSCP will be able to launch and maintain the new training centre for specialists in the fields of veterinary medicine, food safety, sanitary and phytosanitary measures. The training centre is being established for the purpose of continuous professional development of Ministry and SSUFSCP specialists with the support of EU4SaferFood project at the State Scientific and Research Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics, Veterinary and Sanitary Examination in Kyiv.
