10 Ukrainian “green” innovators receive nearly €500,000 in grants from EBRD and EU

On March 19, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Union announced 10 Ukrainian companies as winners of the third wave of the Climate Innovation Vouchers grant program. Under this EBRD-EU FINTECC programme, the companies will receive grants totalling EUR 442,000 for the development and implementation of green technologies.

Each of the winning companies will receive up to EUR 50,000 for innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency and combat climate change.

Grants of up to €50,000 will cover 75% of the costs of developing green innovations at various stages of the business, from prototyping and protecting intellectual property to product certifications and the design of their new production lines.

This year’s winning innovations include control tools to decrease energy and water wastage, electric vehicles for disabled drivers, greener heat pumps, and more.

MICROL LLC helps businesses to manage energy and water consumption using the Internet of Things Technology to reduce resource losses.

MAITEK PLUS LLC supports the hospitality sector with smart, energy-saving management systems.

SMF “Prodekologiya” is developing AI-based software for its automatic sorting lines, which will increase the depth of polymers and e-waste recycling by 90% while using only half the energy required for primary recycling.

Hajster LLC is reducing CO2 emissions by replacing traditional heating systems with Ukrainian-made heat pumps, where climate control equipment software will be developed with the help of the Climate Innovation Voucher.

RMC Manufacturer Company is replacing freon-based units with next-generation refrigeration systems based on CO2 to improve equipment efficiency and durability and optimise energy use.

The One Innovation Water Technologies LLC`s freezing technology for water purification significantly reduces resource consumption.

LUAZ Motors LLC combines electric vehicles and accessibility systems for drivers with disabilities.

Agrosolum LLC offers fast-scaling technology for precise field cultivation with UAV-delivered fertilisers to replace traditional spraying and fertilising systems based on wheels.

ELEEK LLC is developing new models of electric bicycles with plans to introduce them to the international market.

K.Tex LLC, the manufacturer of medical, construction, and industrial non-woven materials, develops the production of non-woven materials from secondary fibres (textile waste) and creates a digital platform for cooperation with clothing manufacturers and raw material suppliers.

About the CIV grant scheme:

The Climate Innovation Vouchers (CIV) scheme is part of the EBRD’s Finance and Technology Transfer Centre for Climate Change (FINTECC) programme, which is supported by the EU through the EU4CLIMATE initiative. Ukraine was the first country where the EBRD and the EU launched the Innovation Voucher scheme in 2017.

In 2020, the program was extended, and since then, as part of a new phase of the program, the EU and EBRD have provided 29 Ukrainian companies with vouchers for climate innovation totalling €1.2 million. The Ukrainian NGO Greencubator has been successfully implementing the program in Ukraine since its launch in 2017.
