The mobile exhibition on the EU’s assistance to Ukraine during the war gets the final hosting city – Cherkasy

From March 21 to April 10, 2023, the park at Khreshchatyk Street, Cherkasy, hosts an exhibition of unique artworks by Ukrainian illustrators on the European Union’s assistance to Ukraine and Ukrainians in the context of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. Cherkasy became the final hosting city for the all-Ukrainian exhibition launched in Kyiv in August 2022. Thousands of people have attended it in Lviv, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Uzhhorod, Odesa, Dnipro, and Poltava.

The exposition is part of the all-Ukrainian communication campaign “Together, We Are Europe” aimed to inform as many Ukrainians as possible about the comprehensive support, solidarity, and assistance the EU has provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. And this support is constantly growing.

Due to the high interest of visitors, the exhibition extended its route several times including the time it spent in Ukrainian cities. The exhibition’s statistics about the EU’s assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the war have also been updated several times. Today, the EU has provided the assistance for about EUR 67 billion.

Therefore, presented in nine regions of Ukraine, this exhibition demonstrated the scale of the EU’s military, financial, and humanitarian support and assistance to Ukrainians fleeing the war abroad.

“Cherkasy is the last stop of our mobile exhibition. It has traveled through Ukraine for half a year, starting in Kyiv in August. During this time, the artworks remained, but the information had to be updated: because the European Union’s assistance to Ukraine kept growing. And this will continue. The EU is here to support Ukraine – until victory and beyond“,- said Ambassador Matti Maasikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

Since the outbreak of Russia’s unprovoked and unjust war against Ukraine, the EU has refocused its assistance to Ukraine to provide an urgent and rational response to the challenges of wartime. To ensure the effective functioning of state institutions and the livelihoods of civilians, the EU actively uses the available civil protection and humanitarian assistance mechanisms and develops new instruments to ensure that aid arrives promptly and in the amounts required.

On March 21, 2023, the EU Delegation to Ukraine launched a new communication campaign on the EU’s support for Ukrainian culture and art during the war focusing on two main areas under the general slogan “Together, We Are Europe” #TogetherWeAreEurope. The first strand of the new campaign – “Together, We Preserve” #TogetherWePreserve – relates to preserving Ukraine’s unique tangible cultural heritage, and the second strand – “Together, We Create” #TogetherWeCreate – is dedicated to the EU’s support for Ukrainian artists, cultural workers and creative industries.
